Alice Foster Obituary, Death – On Sunday, January 28, 2024, Sis. Alice Levena Soden Foster, 88, went away quietly at home in Amory. On November 29, 1935, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, she was born into the family of Alfred Charles and Grace D. Jacob Soden. She came from modest beginnings—her family was a sharecropper, and she later resided in Mississippi County, Arkansas, where she worked in a number of furniture factories. She was a devoted great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother.
She was a loving pastor’s wife from 1980 until 1998, and she co-founded Smithville Pentecostal Church with her husband, Reverend William Foster, whom she wed on April 3, 1953. They joined Nettleton Pentecostal Church after he retired, and most recently she was a passionate prayer warrior and a devoted member of the Pentecostals of Okolona. The Nettleton Pentecostal Church will host funeral services at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Reverend Jason Salisbury, Sister Debbie Davis, and Reverend Larry Davis will preside.
The burial will take place in Amory’s Haughton Memorial Park. Joanne Wiginton, Brenda Murphree, and David Foster (Sherry) of Amory are her children; two brothers, Carlton Soden of Mantachie and Roy Lee Soden of Amory; Elizabeth “Sissy” Ritter of Amory is her sister; eight grandchildren, Latosha Hall (Bruce), Eric Wiginton (Shawn), Tonya Salisbury (Reverend Jason), Tishunda Foster, Ashley Foster, Reverend Jordan Wiginton (Kayla), Alison Lopez (Justin), and Tyler Foster; sixteen great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Bethany, and Sydney Hall, Jaiden and Sophie Wiginton, Olivia, Kamden, Weston Salisbury, Landon Roberts, Hunter Grey, Alaina and Cayson Wiginton, Kyland Cliburn, Aubree, and Paisley Lopez.
Her father, husband, son-in-law, uncle, Kevin Wiginton, brothers, Henry and Levurn Soden, great-granddaughter Savannah Hall, and son-in-law Roy Lynn Murphree all passed away before her. Thursday from 2:00 till the church’s service hour is when visitors are welcome. Bruce Hall, Justin Lopez, Jordan Wiginton, Jaiden Wiginton, Kamden Salisbury, Landon Roberts, Hunter Grey, and Weston Salisbury will all be pallbearers.
